The girl is a pornstar. There's enough brain air in that circus to fill the tires of 10 monster trucks.

Thanks for the tip.

Here is my response to the last PM:

Ha, why do you say Corgan is bigoted? His voice is bloody awful but I think a lot of his music is really creative.

James Bryan aka James McCollum (top left in photo - Philosopher Kings guitarist)

He sort of has a Michael Tighe resemblance. (the black guy)

Another Toronto band:

The Tea Party. The singer, Jeff Martin, thinks he's Jim Morrison. Aside from that goofiness, he's actually a really clever musician and plays a lot of obscure, exotic instruments.

I watched the Townshend video. I'm just not feeling this guy. What can I say? He's a talented guy, I just can't see myself ever liking what I've heard so far. I'm very picky.

You don't mind Corgan's voice? That's the worst part about his music. Thirty Three is one of my favourite songs ever, but his voice just ruins the beauty of the song. I don't mind it in 1979 though. Never head of Jasbinder Mann. Corgan definitely has that Matt Good pretentiousness. Matt Good has been diagnosed as bipolar; Corgan probably has the same disorder. I really think Corgan is severely depressed. He's probably just really lonely, especially being in his mid 40s and not married.

Honestly, the transgenered person came off sounding like the bigger idiot in that feud. I'm not saying it's a good thing to make fun of someone who is transgenered, but Ever went overboard with the reaction. So what if someone makes fun of you; we've all been made fun of. People need to learn how to control their emotions and not let other people's negative comments affect them. The best thing one can do is just laugh at someone when they try to hurt them or play along with their game. Show no pain and the person will leave you alone because they won't be able to feel power over you and it will frustrate them. I used to be very sensitive but I finally grew some balls and I'm better off because of it. There's nothing anyone can say to me that would offend me now. If you're confident with who you are then nobody can hurt you.

Ha, high school teachers. Yeah, there's definitely some similarity between their lobes.

I've never really noticed the popularity of Black Beauty's in the 90s.

Yeah, the 90s were a weird time. That classic rock, indian vibe was very prevalent. Even in Soundgarden.

I always loved the main riff in this song.

They sometimes played Last Goodbye and Everybody Here Wants You as part of their live sets.

I'm like Danny Tanner, but in a musical sense. I like things a certain way. Oh well, variety is the spite of life.

One thing I'll give Corgan is that his voice is very unique. He's like Sting, Rod Stewart or Van Morrison. All they have to do is sing one word and you know who it is immediately. I just found Newsom's voice to be too much of an act. It sounds like she's purposely altering her voice. I like singers who just sing naturally, without any exaggerated inflections.

Diarrhea milkshakes are delicious. Well, Ever threatened Corgan; as far as I know, he didn't, therefore Ever is the bigger idiot. If Corgan started the feud, then be the better person and don't stoop to his level by insulting even more viciously. Just take a breath and move on. There's no point in getting in petty arguments with people as nothing good comes out of them and you end up feeling unnecessarily livid. The problem with getting involved in arguments is that you don't end up just feeling upset about the topic at hand, but you recall all the things in your life that bring you pain (family troubles, relationships, general insecurities, wanting things you don't have, etc.) It's best to just avoid the things that exasperate you. It's actually quite easy to overcome them. I think many people have a hard time accepting their faults and that is their biggest problem. They see them as a weakness. People need to focus on the good attributes that they have and accept the fact that they aren't perfect. If you can handle your flaws and even embrace them then you'll be a much happier person. I don't like the fact that I'm shy and socially awkward, but that's who I am. I also don't like being short, but that's how I was made. Some things we can't change, so we have no choice but to accept them or we can choose to be miserable all the time.

I can never understand what it must be like to be a transgendered person. It must be incredibly difficult. But I've had no shortage of things I've had to overcome as well. I was mocked for my shyness in my school days. I used to have people make fun of my voice because I had little emotion in how I spoke due to shyness and probably depression. Family wise, I've had a better life than most, however, my own personal problems have been as painful as just about anyone. I've never felt comfortable among groups of people and I regrettably ended up dropping out of high school because I had such terrible anxiety attacks. I couldn't put myself through class presentations anymore. It was just to difficult and embarrassing with my vocal tremors and adrenaline rushes I would experience. I can only imagine how different my life could have been, but it's pointless to guess. I can only make my future better. What frustrates me the most are people who are perfectly confident but just sheer lazy. I imagine most people that drop out of high school do so because they think it's a waste of time and they simply dislike working hard. I would give anything to just feel physically comfortable so that I can go out and achieve anything without any hesitation. With high confidence there is absolutely nothing that can stop you from attaining any goal. Some people have that confidence but just have no drive whatsoever, and it's such a waste.

That's a quote from The Quest For the Holy Grail, no? I think anyone has that same willpower. People just need to learn how to unlock it. But yeah, I can see why it would be harder for people, especially, who have little love from their families or no family at all.

I like riff rock. Well I think rock in general is usually based around a riff. But look at Jeff. He's as far from riff rock as it gets. The drums in The River are great. Black Beauties are just great rock guitars, so it's not surprising that they would be heavily used. My Les Paul sounds awesome with my Rectifier mod; so freaking heavy.

I listened to more of her music on YouTube and got the same impression. She just sounds awkward to me; like she's purposely trying to sound different so that she'll stand out. Her speaking voice may be childlike, but the way she shapes her words when she sings sounds too over the top for me. Every word is too, 'round' (as you can see by the way she has to shape her mouth to sing in that style). I don't really know how to explain why I mean very well. It's all in the way she pronounces her words. Jeff sometimes put on 'fake voices' but for the most part he didn't seem to really change his natural voice. He may have over exaggerated certain parts of songs to the point where he sounded like he was on the verge of crying, especially in songs like Mama You Been On My Mind, If You See Her, Say What's Up (but it still sounded sincere).

To some extent singers change their voices when they sing. I'm not a fan of Jeff Martin's voice (Tea Party Guy) and I wouldn't say Plant changed his annunciation when he sang so much but just used his wide range a lot and through in a lot of squealy 'baby babies'. Though that could be seen as 'altering his voice.'

We're all bigots. We've all said stupid, hateful things to people. It's human nature to hold prejudices. For instance, would you go for a walk, alone, in Compton? Neither would I. Why would Billy not regret what he said, but Ever would? She said the worst of the argument by threatening Billy. It's one thing to call people names or make fun of their gender, but to actually wish harm on somebody is completely different. Name calling or making a joke about someone isn't as bad as hoping that somebody will die because they hurt your feelings. Two wrongs don't make a right. That's why it's never a good idea to respond to someone when you're temper is high. Emotional responses rarely ever consist of any logic. Billy's career has been dead for years anyway, so this won't hurt him. He hasn't had an original song idea since 1995.

Don't bother getting into your problems. I understand that certain things are tough to talk about, as I kept a lot of my problems secretive for years, until I couldn't hold them in any longer. Thanks.

I was never a huge Monty Python film. My older brother loves that stuff. I do like the World's Biggest Twit contest though or whatever it's called.

I don't need riff rock, I just like music that can move me, either through nice hooks or just strong emotion, or both.

No, I can't say I liked that Pop Levi song. Definitely not my thing. Ha, my dad actually just went out to a local hardware store and I asked him to pick me up some contact cleaner. So, hopefully I'll have things up and running sometime today.

I'm sure you've heard this before. The riffage and bass in this song is incredible.

I tried contact cleaner and that didn't do the trick; just my luck. I think when I was dinking around with my effects loop I may have plugged my guitar into the headphone jack at some point. I don't know if that could have caused any damage? I just find it strange that I was able to switch over to stereo and play fine, but as soon as I went back to mono things weren't working. Like I said, I can still hear the difference in tone and the respective default effects associated with my various amp models when I switch from one to another, but the feedback I hear is much quieter than usual (guitar plugged in or not). It seems odd that one of the tubes could have just died due to switching between mono and stereo. If one of the tubes died I'd expect that to happen while I'm playing, not while plugging in or just prior to. This is such a piss off because I don't feel like taking my amp into the shop and having it sit there for a month then most likely I'll be overcharged to have it fixed. I'm sure the price won't be cheap for replacing whatever is not working.

Fair enough. Ah, I didn't know she had vocal problems. I just figured she was trying too hard to sound like some black jazz singer from the 40s.

I'm vaguely familiar with applewagon folk singing. Who do you think are Jeff Buckley clones in today's music? Matt Bellamy, Thom Yorke (for the three actual words he sings in each song; to a small extent), Chris Martin, Dallas Green, Jimmy 'I'm Gonna Snap Your Gnecco', Usher, who else?

I see what you mean. I can't really argue with that. Some singers just contort their voices too much or not to my liking. Paolo Nutini singing 'What A Wonderful World' is a perfect example of what I mean. Every single word he sings is so exaggerated that he comes off as sounding unnatural and extremely annoying. I can understand emphasizing certain lyrics, but when every word sung requires the vocal cords to do cartwheels it's just too much for me.

Alright, the Compton example was bad, as it has a notorious reputation, but I doubt any white person would venture into a predominantly black or Latino neighbourhood, crime statistics unknown. One would naturally assume that they'd be at a great risk of danger. No one would want to take their chances. People could say that's bigoted because you're assuming that neighbourhoods with mostly black or Latino people aren't safe for white people or any other minority to visit.

Oh, nevermind. I must have been really tired when I read the whole argument. I thought what Corgan said were Ever's words. Corgan is actually the one who made the threat. My mistake. Do you work with Ever?

Sorry, I'm not a fan of that song either. We seem to share some common musical interests but we're quite different aside from the Buckley and Zep, which is good. I don't want us to see eye to eye on everything.

I love this song. Bobcaygeon is a place north east of Toronto with many lakes. One of several cottage areas in Ontario.

Yeah, I've altering the effects loop button. I took the cable plugs out and plugged them back in and it still ain't working. I lubed all the jacks with the contact cleaner. I've never turned on my amp with the speaker cables disconnected. I wonder what the heck is wrong with it? It's extremely odd for it to just cut out like that. It's especially weird how I can still hear the various tones of feedback and effects, though subdued, when switching between models. Fiddlesticks!

Paolo Nutini is seriously compared to Jeff? It's ridiculous how many people are compared to him. If anyone these days writes a remotely sensitive song then the inevitable Buckley references are thrown around like turd nuggets at a scat orgy. Nutini espcecially is what I mean by exaggerated singing. That warbling garbage ticks me off so much. It's such a farce. Eddie Vedder basically started the mumble rock voice. He's responsible for the Scott Stapps and Scott Weilands of the world.

I can't figure out who I dislike more; Thom Yorke or Morrissey. They're perfect examples of what is wrong with humanity. Morrissey at least is coherent, though equally, if not more miserable with himself.

Yeah, all the supposed Jeff proteges are these amateur musicians that no one has ever heard of and they'll never make any significant impact. We can probably read about a half a dozen of these cases if we check out Jeff news from the past 24 hours on Google.
I don't care for anyone who has been influenced by Jeff, other than guys who were around before him, such as Chris Cornell or Page & Plant, etc. There's not a single artist from the last decade or so that has been inspired by him that I like. Remember, Buckethead is the only current artist I really listen to these days. What a pathetic musical era we live in.

No, the feedback or sound is much quieter and muffled (it sounds normal, but very quiet). But I can hear the distinct tones of each amp model when I switch between them, though very faintly. So the amp is working somewhat, it's just much quieter and won't pick up my guitar. I haven't listened to my amp through my headphones. I actually plugged my guitar into the headphone jack, not my headphones, when I was fiddling around with the stereo sound to see if I could play through that as I was having trouble getting the stereo setup going, initially.

Yeah, that was a nice quote and pretty true for someone who is bipolar. Depression is a terrible thing. It is is a chemical imbalance in the brain so there's not much one can really do to overcome it. Medication can work but they all have their side effects. There's no perfect treatment.

You've probably heard their famous hit, 'New Orleans is Sinking.' The Tragically Hip are a great band. Lots of good tunes. The video definitely has a Fargo vibe to it. North Dakota is actually further north than Southern Ontario (where Toronto and my cottage is). We're actually at about the same latitude as south to mid Oregon. Most of the country is much further north than we are.
Canada is the most beautiful country in the world. It's phenomenal. We have the Arctic to ourselves, the Rockies out west, the prairies in the middle of the country, four of the five Great Lakes in Ontario, as well as 1/3 of the earth's fresh water is in this province, then we have the rocky landscapes of the east coast which is home to the Trailer Park Boys. We're also the only country to border on three oceans, Arctic, Pacific and Atlantic. In Ontario, by my cottage, and spanning across most of the country we have the oldest rock in the world, known as the Canadian Shield, which consists of plains and walls of granite. Here are some pics from my cottage from a few years ago.

Here's my younger but bigger brother, David, holding up a pike that he caught. We never kill the fish for food, but he ended up catching this fish and released it but as he continued to fish he noticed that the fish was floating on it's back and was dying, so he brought it in for us to eat.

This is Wolf Bay; the deepest spot in the lake and where my brother caught that pike.

The view from our balcony.

And looking back from the end of our dock.

My back covered in burrs, thanks to my brother. These are actually what inspired the invention of velcro.

Daddy long legs hammock

This is an interesting shot. I love the diamond, sequined effect on the water. It looks a firecracker went off.

Love this shot.

This was taken from a tunnel on the golf course that our cottage is surrounded by. Shortly after this pic was taken an anal ranger from the course asked us what we were doing walking on the course. He asked us if we wanted to get hit in the head by a golf ball (this was late in the evening and there wasn't even a single player on the course). Gotta love power trips.

My brother and I take our pedal boat through this canal. Our lake borders on to it. It connect our lake (Lake Peninsula or Pen Lake) with Fairy Lake, Lake Vernon and Mary Lake.

After a hike up one of the several hiking trails, this was our view.

We used to rent one of the cottages at the bottom of the hill.

Billy Corgan obviously put up this sign, threatening us.

Nature sucks.

That song was alright. More appealing than the other ones, in my opinion.

This is one of my favourite songs. I wish I could write a song like this. Stevie Nicks has such a beautiful voice and Lindsay Buckingham is so underrated as a guitarist.

Whenever I hear that someone was inspired by Jeff I automatically assume that they're a typical acoustic wimp. Where do these comparisons come from when Jeff basically never played acoustic? Are people tone deaf and so selective that they only thing Jeff was a ballad writer? Eternal Life is such a folky tune.

Thanks for the links. You're really not handy at all. I think I actually may have unplugged my speakers cords with the amp on. Didn't you say never to do that? I don't know why I plugged my guitar into my headphone jack. I guess I'm too inquisitive and stupid. Yep, the volume knob is still responsive. Yeah, the knobs are motorized. When I switch between models all the knobs adjust themselves. It's pretty cool.

Never use the word indie with my music. It instantly brings up images of hipsters. My brother took all the shots, so he deserves the credit. Yep, our cottage is in a really beautiful spot. We're in the town of Huntsville (about 2.5 hours north of Toronto), which is part of a large region called Muskoka. It's actually world renowned. About 45 west of our cottage is where many celebrities cottage. Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Steven Spielbergo, etc. My mom ran into Kurt Russell in our town center a couple of years ago. He and Goldie Hawn have a cottage nearby. Shania Twain also grew up in the same town and got her start singing at Deerhurst Resort (which is just across the bay from our cottage. Ernest Hemingway also used to frequent Bigwin Island on Lake of Bays, which is directing east of our lake. It's definitely a special spot and I'm fortunate to have a piece of paradise as a second home.

I'm not a big Fleetwood Mac fan either, but I love that tune. Guitarists definitely know Buckingham is a king but he wouldn't be given the time of day by average Cretan. That's true. One thing I like about Fleetwood Mac is that the band members never tried to outdo each other. They were all pretty restrained and let each other's talents equally shine. Probably at the advice of Gary Lucas.

Oh man, what a headache those guys were. I had to skim through it.

Thanks for the PM. I've never heard another band version of I Woke Up In A Strange Place, other than the Mystery White Boy take. That was cool. I've only listened to that so far though. I'll check out the rest later on. I was reluctant to even download it as I figured it was just a bunch of Paolo Nutini songs. Nice surprise. That's from the Father Demo concert I see. Where'd you get that from and did the main band perform with him here or are those other friends of Jeff's? I was under the impression that all those solo shows in '96 were him alone.

Thanks for the link; I'm already subscribed. It's not the best idea to post links to these YouTube accounts though as Mary will probably see this and have the channel deleted.
